Architectural Solutions

Homes are becoming more complex, costly and expensive to maintain – this is especially evident when looking at one of the most expensive components of a home, its windows and doors. The increasing number of window manufacturers, importers and resellers in southern Ontario adds complexity and often confusion when looking at options for your project. Many companies focus on a product-centric approach; focusing on features while downplaying or ignoring a holistic approach that
encompasses installation detailing, energy and lifecycle costing in a low-maintenance package that aligns with the other quality components of your building enclosure.

The Window and Door Experts at North Shore Architectural Solutions (NSAS), A Division of North Shore Ltd., meet these needs by supplying, installing and servicing the highest quality, European-designed, fenestration, servicing a market we also call home. Our contemporary sightlines and structurally engineered window and door solutions will provide long life, enhanced thermal comfort, ease of maintenance and excellent durability – form and function are combined to connect you with light and
views; with unmatched comfort and energy performance.

Our selected range of window and door systems meet and exceed local energy and life safety codes, ensuring your project will not only meet stringent Ontario building codes today but offer the ability to fine tune comfort, ease of use and security in a package that compliments your design. Let us apply our knowledge and experience to improve your project, maximize value and support your future service needs via a single, trusted, source – NSAS.

NSAS offers multiple product and installation-related solutions for each project, designed to balance aesthetics and function with energy efficiency, comfort and durability. We appreciate the trust required to be a part of your design and implementation team, something we feel strongly about and at the core of how we do business.

Aluminum Window and Doors are generally broken down into the following components. Our product offering comprises high-performance aluminum window and door systems and may be broken out as follows:

Aluminum Extrusion. Our selected window and door systems are designed and extruded by some of Europe’s largest and most trusted fenestration companies. All products are tested to stringent North American standards and comply with all local codes and conditions. This is not typical, as many European window and door systems are shipped from factories outside of North America, designed and built for conditions in their countries of origin.

Fabrication. NSAS prides itself in partnering with local (Canadian) manufacturers of these systems, certified by the parent company to produce these complex windows and doors to the highest manufacturing standards.

Glass and Glazing. NSAS works closely with local glazing providers to further fine-tune our product offering to meet stringent Canadian glass manufacturers' certifications. Our glazing products maximize light, balance heat and glare and are designed to marry with our window and door frame solutions. Class-leading seal longevity, durability and warranties are part of our value-add approach in choosing
the right glazing to meet your design and comfort needs.

Owning the Opening©. This is the term we have adopted for our proprietary methodology to waterproof and assemble the frame and glass into the openings to ensure longevity and performance. At NSAS, we OWN THE OPENING©. This means:

Owning The Opening©, an overview.

1. Review of Drawings. We begin by thoroughly reviewing the received drawings to
understand the project requirements and specifications. This step is crucial for ensuring what needs to be done and what system works best.
2. EEDS. A comprehensive review of your design documents (Architectural Drawings,
Specifications and Energy Efficiency Summary (EEDS)) allows us to better understand the design intent, allowing us to help achieve your wants and needs
3. Problem Identification and Recommendations. Our initial project review will typically generate some questions and ideas to be further explored with you and your team. We are happy to apply our experience and knowledge to help improve your new home
4. Installation Team Analysis. Installation design and detailing is something we feel is of
high importance and the NSAS team will identify synergies here that carefully balance
with our product recommendations, ensuring a vetted approach that allows you to rest
assured that these challenges are well met. Our warranties reflect this vertically
integrated approach, as the best products will only perform to their ability when
properly installed.
5. Continuity and Aesthetics Review. We don’t just look at the technical aspects but include an architectural review regarding continuity, sightlines and the visual impact of our products on your design. This will ensure design intent is met and the performance of your windows and doors will align with beautiful elevations
6. Shop Drawings. A comprehensive set of shop drawings and engineering reviews are
carried out for every project. NSAS will take this one step further by including initial
mock-ups of windows and doors and installation summaries. This entire package is
attached to our close-out documents and connects with your project, long after you’ve
moved in, as part of our ongoing service approach to maintain the function and lifecycle of your new windows and doors.
7. Compliance Report. As part of our service, we provide a detailed installation report that shows each opening, how it was waterproofed, glazing and other details to fully document the process from start to finish. This report is left on site and retained on our system for future reference. A comprehensive set of shop drawings and engineering reviews are carried out for every project. NSAS will take this one step further by including initial mock-ups of windows and doors and installation summaries. This entire package is attached to our close-out documents and connects with your project, long after you’ve moved in, as part of our ongoing service approach to maintain function and lifecycle of your new windows and doors

By following this process, we ensure that our projects are well-planned, compliant, and executed to the highest standards. This comprehensive approach helps to minimize risks and deliver successful outcomes for our customers.
