This effect is a key design feature for a special design intent, or for privacy or just because its so cool!
The basic principle of cracked glass is similar to the production of other tempered glass panes, in that multiple layers of glass are sandwiched between laminate layers and treated to increase their strength and make them more useful for use on tables, partitions and staircases.
The difference with cracked ice glass is that the central layer of the glass is deliberately damaged after being treated and laminated. This breaks the glass into a sheet of tiny fragments that are then sandwiched between two other laminated and strengthened layers of glass.
In our display we used the center point for a book matched look, but many break points are available depending on your desired outcome (bottom, top, corner etc..).
We can also control the size of the broken pc’s using heat during fabrication, however its ultimately a random pattern. For example if you wanted more privacy you could request the smallest chip size.
Another effect is to introduce LED lighting in the surrounding channel that will shine through the glass that will create a cool vibe!
Let us know how we can help make your home stand out from the crowd!
